Motor City Casino employee killed in Detroit driveway on way home from work, police say

DETROIT – Police are searching for the person who shot and killed a Motor City Casino employee on his way home from work and left him dead in a driveway on Detroit’s west side.

Roderick Webster, 44, of Detroit, was shot several times around 12:30 a.m. Oct. 10 in the 9100 block of Hartwell Street, according to authorities.

Webster was found by concerned neighbors in the driveway of a home in the area, police said. The shooter was nowhere in sight when Webster was discovered, officials said.

A family member was located on Facebook and notified of Webster’s death, according to police.

Webster was a Mackenzie High School graduate and worked at Motor City Casino due to his talents in culinary art, officials said.

He was in the process of training to enter his first body building contest and was also on the verge of compiling his autobiography, family members said.

Crime Stoppers of Michigan is offering a cash reward of up to $2,500 for information that leads to an arrest in the case. Anyone with information is asked to call 1-800-SPEAK-UP. Callers can remain anonymous.
