Metro Detroit weather: Chilly, warm enough for slow thaw
DETROIT – Saturday afternoon will be chilly for college football. Thawing continues at a snails pace with a re-freeze Saturday night. Sunday will have some additional sun and more melting.
Tailgaters will be grilling with temperatures in the 20s in Ann Arbor for the Michigan State vs Michigan football game. Kickoff between the Wolverines and Spartans is at noon.
Families will need their hats, scarves, gloves and coats to stay warm while going to and from services and other morning activities like Jurassic World Live at Little Caesars Arena at 3 p.m.
Saturday afternoon will be partly to mostly sunny and chilly. Temperatures barely make it above freezing, near 35°F.
Saturday evening becomes colder under partly cloudy skies. Temperatures will be in the upper 20s to near 30°F. Coats will be needed for theater lovers going to and from the 8 p.m. August Wilson play Jitney at the Music Hall in Detroit.
Sunset is at 5:12 p.m.
Saturday night becomes very cold again. Skies will be partly cloudy. Overnight lows will be in the teens and low 20s. Use caution on any refrozen surfaces while driving or walking.
Sunday will be partly sunny and chilly. Highs will be in the middle 30s.
Clouds return on Monday, but thankfully there won’t be any snow or rain. The thaw continues to creep along as afternoon temperatures reach 40°F.
Tuesday will be a repeat of Monday. It will be mainly gray with highs near 40°F.
