Michigan man mistakes brother for deer, shoots him during hunt

Victim expected to be OK

VILLAGE OF SARANAC, Mich. – A man was mistaken for a deer in a cornfield near the Village of Saranac, Mich. and shot by his brother, just days into Michigan firearm deer-hunting season.

Police say the brothers were looking in the dense cornfield for a deer they had already shot.

One brother thought he spotted the deer and fired again, then soon realized he had shot his brother instead.

The victim was able to walk out of the cornfield, according to officials. He remains in the hospital, but is expected to be OK.
