Officer killed in shooting: What we know

An 18-year veteran of the Detroit police force died following a shootout with a gunman Wednesday night in the 20000 block of Wyoming Avenue. The shooting broke out about 7 p.m. Tuesday night. The neighborhood was locked down until about 4:30 a.m. Thursday. Here’s what we know about how the shooting happened.
