DETROIT – The owner of a Detroit tugboat company is accused of having sexual conversations with several young boys on Facebook.
Officials said he invited one boy over to his house to “clean his basement,” and that’s when he sexually abused the boy.
Wade Preston Streeter, the owner of Open Lake Group, a tugboat service operating all over the Great Lakes is accused of giving young boys alcohol and pills before sexually abusing them -- that’s according to a complaint filed by the FBI. Officials said he also took pictures and videos. His alleged victims could be more than a dozen.
The abuse happened between 2003 and July of 2019, according to the complaint. Streeter is now wanted by the FBI.
Lewis Buchanan was shocked when he learned about the allegations. He said he has known Streeter for years.
“I’m shocked because he never gave me that impression,” Buchanan said. “He was never unusual. If he was, I never saw it.”
One victim said he grew up and became addicted to drugs because of what he said happened to him. Facebook messages between the two reveal that Streeter allegedly apologized, begging the minor not to tell his parents.
FBI agents eventually seized electronics from Streeter’s home. They said they found dozens of child porn images.
