Deputies from the Marine Division made one arrest for operating a boat while impaired and one for disorderly conduct. Clay Township Police made an arrest on the island for felonious assault.

“By and large the people attending this event are just looking to enjoy the day,” Donnellon said. “There are always a few that step outside boundaries, but we had relatively few problems with the boaters. I would like to thank all of the agencies that worked along with us to help keep Jobbie Nooner reasonable safe.”

In addition to the St. Clair County Sheriff’s Office and Clay Township Police, members of the U.S. Coast Guard, U.S. Customs and Border Protection, Macomb County Sheriff’s Office, Lapeer County Sheriff’s Office, New Baltimore Police Department, St. Clair Shores Police Department, Michigan DNR, Royal Canadian Mounted Police and Ontario Provincial were on patrol.

Two medical transports were made during the event. One was for an incapacitated person and the other was the victim of the felonious assault on Gull Island.

Inmates clean mess after party

Inmates from the St. Clair County Intervention and Detention Center and from the Macomb County Jail were on Gull Island cleaning up the mess from the Jobbie Nooner party.

This was the seventh year inmates have been transported to the island where they picked up hundred of pounds of trash.

“I remember when Mark first brought up the idea,” Donnellon said. “I thought it was a great idea then, and it has worked out very well every year since.”

The inmates were taken by Corrections Deputies to Sheriff’s Office Marine Division boats, then were transported across to Gull Island.
