BEDFORD TOWNSHIP, Mich. - The Monroe County Sheriff's Offie says alcohol is suspected of being involved in a serious crash Saturday night between a car and a motorcyle in Bedford Township.

Deputies said preliminary investigation reveals that Charles A. Darr, age 72, of Toledo, Ohio, was operating a 2004 Pontiac Bonneville southbound on Douglas Road.

Darr, along with front seat passenger Denise M. Darr, age 63, of Toledo, Ohio, and rear seat passenger Nancy L. Coleman, age 71, of Toledo, Ohio attempted to make a left turn onto eastbound Summerfield Road, where Darr pulled in front of a 2000 Harley Davidson motorcycle that was traveling northbound on Douglas Road.

The motorcycle operator, Michael W. Hofmann, age 37, of Toledo, Ohio, struck the Pontiac and was ejected from the motorcycle.

Darr was not injured in the crash. His wife, Darr, Coleman and Hofmann were taken to The Toledo Hospital.

Denise Darr and Coleman are listed in serious condition. Hofmann is listed in critical condition.

Witnesses at the scene report that the motorcycle had the right of way.

Hofmann was not wearing a helmet at the time of the crash and the sheriff's office said alcohol appears to be a factor in the crash.

Monroe Community Ambulance and Bedford Township Fire Department assisted at the scene.
