72-year-old Chesterfield Township woman calls 911 to say she shot her husband

Police say shot fired during argument

CHESTERFIELD TOWNSHIP, Mich. – A 72-year-old woman was arrested Tuesday after she called 911 to say she shot her husband and needed an ambulance.

Police said Charyl Archambault called 911 around 7:45 p.m. Tuesday to ask for an ambulance. Officials responded to the 33000 block of Meldrum Street and found a 71-year-old man with a gunshot wound to his face and neck area.

Archambault was taken into custody, and police found the handgun that was used to injure the 71-year-old man.

Police said Archambault revealed the couple was arguing when she shot her husband.

The 71-year-old man is being treated at McLaren Hospital in serious but stable condition.

Archambault is charged with assault with intent to murder and weapons -- felony firearm. The assault charge carries a maximum sentence of life in prison.

She is being held in the Macomb County Jail on $100,000 bail.
