Detroit schools issued early release Monday amid hazardous weather advisory

All Detroit Public Schools Community District schools to be dismissed early

DETROIT – Due to a hazardous weather advisory in southeast Michigan on Monday, the Detroit Public Schools Community District will be dismissing schools early, the district said.

The advisory, which was issued by the National Weather Service, indicates that near-record early fall heat will continue through Monday, with temperatures possibly ranging up to the mid-90s.

The district said as a precautionary measure, all DPSCD schools have been issued early dismissal for all students and staff on Monday.

The NWS advised that heat safety precautions should be considered for outdoor activities, resulting in the cancellation of all afternoon sports and training.
