Amtrak train hits pedestrian in Galesburg

GALESBURG, Mich. – A pedestrian was struck Monday night by an Amtrak passenger train near the intersection of Burgess Drive and Battle Creek Street in Galesburg.

Train No. 358 struck the pedestrian around 6:50 p.m.. A spokesperson for the company said that person is believed to be dead.

The train, carrying 205 passengers and crew members, had just departed from the Kalamazoo Amtrak station en route from Chicago to Pontiac.

The spokesperson said the train was delayed until a medical examiner could get to the scene.

No other injuries were reported.
