Aretha Franklin Plays 'Today'

Soulful Singer Promotes Album 'Aretha: A Woman Falling Out Of Love'

NEW YORK - "Queen of Soul" Aretha Franklin performed live on the Today Show with Kathie Lee and Hoda on Monday.

Franklin was promoting her new album, "Aretha: A Woman Falling Out of Love," which was released in April.

When asked if the title track was written for someone in mind Aretha said, "Yes. Oh, yes. But, no names please."

The all-new 12-track album will mark the Queen of Soul's first since 2003's "So Damn Happy," is her first studio release since "This Christmas: Aretha" in 2008.

One critic wrote:

"The new album is one of Aretha's most acrobatic, sure and robost vocals in years."

The album was released by Franklin's own Aretha's Record Label.

For this album, Franklin served as executive producer. She wrote two songs, including the first single titled, "How Long I've Waited," and produced four of the songs herself.

"Aretha: A Woman Falling Out of Love" will be available exclusively through Wal-Mart.
