YPSILANTI, Mich. - A 17-year-old has been charged with breaking into an x-ray equipment store in Ypsilanti Township and stealing cash and a gun.
The Washtenaw County Sheriff's Office said the thief had pried open the front door of the store on East Michigan Avenue last Wednesday. Once inside, the thief took a handgun and cash and coins from a pop machine.
Wednesday's break-in was the second to hit the store recently and a webcam had been set up to monitor any activity. The webcam footage was released to the public and someone contacted the Sheriff's Office identifying the person in it.
Deputies went to the Ypsilanti Township home of Blair Howell, where they found clothes matching the description of those seen in the video and Howell also confessed to the crime.
He is charged with burglary and larceny of a firearm.
