Bar shooting suspect wanted after escaping police custody in Pontiac

Man suspected of shooting 2 people at Duckett's Sports Bar

PONTIAC, Mich. – A 38-year-old man escaped police custody Sunday while he was being interviewed at a substation in Pontiac.

According to the Oakland County Sheriff's Office, Larry Lanelle Emery, of Pontiac, is considered a suspect in the shooting of two people Saturday night at Duckett's Sports Bar.

Emery was taken into custody Sunday. However, he escaped custody before he could be transported to the Oakland County Jail. Police said he was able to walk out of the Oakland County Sheriff's substation in Pontiac.

"The suspect was seated in the interview room while he awaited the arrival of the transport Deputy. Detectives heard a noise come from an area near the interview room and went to investigate. Detectives found that the suspect was missing from the interview room and began to search for him," a statement from the Sheriff's Office reads.

Deputies searched the building and set up a perimeter but could not find Emery. A K-9 unit also attempted to track him down to no avail. Fugitive Apprehension Team Detectives are actively looking for Emery.

He was last seen wearing gray sweatpants, a white T-shirt and no shoes.

Anyone with information on his whereabouts is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 800-SPEAK-UP. There is a reward of up to $2,500 for information leading to his arrest and you will remain anonymous.
