Boy ejected during crash on Telegraph, woman dies

Crash happens near 6 Mile; Boy in stable condition

DETROIT – An 11-year-old boy was ejected from a van Friday morning during a crash on Telegraph Road in Detroit.

The crash involving a red Ford Escape and a silver Ford Econoline van happened in the southbound lanes near 6 Mile Road.

The boy was in the van with his father, who was driving, and his grandmother.

Police said the boy was rushed to Children's Hospital and is expected to recover.

His father was taken into custody for questioning after the grandmother was found suffering from a gunshot wound. She was pronounced dead at a hospital.

Police said the boy's father was taken into custody with a gun in his hand.

Two people in the Escape were not seriously hurt.
