CHESTERFIELD TOWNSHIP, Mich. – On Saturday morning July 21st, 2012, a Chesterfield Township couple, residing on 25 Mile Rd., patiently waited for a cable repair man to arrive on a service call they had made. 22-year-old Lequentin Ahmad Randolph of Detroit arrived at approximately 9:30am and they explained their phone line problem to him. As Randolph began "checking for the problem", they said they became suspicious as he continued to "check" things in their bedroom that were not related to their phone line problem.
Randolph reportedly began directing the couple away from their own bedroom, requesting that they assist him by doing things such as checking the TV picture quality in other rooms, while he stayed in their bedroom.

A short time later Mr. Randolph advised the couple that he had "fixed" their problem, supplied them with his phone number, "should they have any more problems", and drove away. The couple immediately began surveying their bedroom and noticed that top shelf of the family jewelry box had been cleared out of expensive and sentimental jewelry.

They called the Chesterfield Dispatch Center and explained what had happened. As Chesterfield Officers responded to the area of the couple's home, Officer Duane Vanacker observed a white cable truck, as described by the couple, traveling west bound on 25 Mile Road from Gratiot. Officer Vanacker stopped the truck noticed Randolph matched the description that the couple had given of the "cable guy". Officer Vanacker also noticed 2 pieces of gold jewelry on the driver's seat of the vehicle. After searching the truck police found blue bag that contained approximately $10,000.00 worth of jewelry taken from the couple's bedroom.
Randolph was arraigned Monday afternoon via video from the Macomb County Jail on the charge of Larceny in a building which is a 4 year felony. He's expected back in court for a preliminary exam July 30th at 1:30 p.m.
