DETROIT – 
After a tree snapped off from a massive trunk it fell onto a Detroit home, the 85-year-old homeowner was left worried about expensive repairs.
The tree damaged the front door awnings and gutters of Celia Thompson's home. It also damaged the roof and a window.
The tree was on city property, but the woman's family worried the claim process with the city could take too long. Thompson's son Gerald Tipler says he complained to the city months ago about the tree. He was worried it would fall.
"They came out and looked at the tree and said there is nothing wrong with the tree it's not going to fall. Well the other morning at 7:45, the tree fell," said Tipler
A city crew came out to remove the tree but they told Thompson she would need to make a claim for the damage.
"I've been here for 40 years and I'm just depressed and I don't have the money to have it repaired myself," said Thompson.
The family contacted Local 4 for help.
The Ruth to the Rescue team was able to contact Tittle Brothers Construction and several hours later, a worker was on Thompson's roof to accesses repairs.
Tittle Brothers is based in Lincoln Park but does business all over Southeast Michigan. Workers made a plan to repair the roof and make it weather tight to prevent leaks, all for free.
The company's owner says it just makes sense to help someone when he's able to. The owners says the home's gutters will also be replaced, and then awnings will be custom-sized and should take about three weeks to finish.
"I'm very appreciative of it too because it was going to cost us about $4,000 or $5,000 which we cannot afford," said Thompson.
