GROSSE POINTE SHORES, Mich. - Grosse Pointe Shores could soon be a part of Macomb County.
The city actually straddles the Wayne and Macomb counties border but is officially in Wayne County.
According to a special commission studying the proposal, it would be better for Grosse Pointe Shores to be in Macomb County because property taxes would likely be lower and property values would likely increase. The proposal would also keep the same school district and bus service would not change.
The report presented Wednesday also says Grosse Pointe Shores "receives virtually no direct services from the tax dollars" paid to Wayne County.
Grosse Pointe Shores City Council will take up the issue Aug. 21. The issue could be put on the November ballot.
