Calvin Robinson recovering after being shot in head Aug. 12

DETROIT – Crime Stoppers is offering a $1,000 reward for information that leads to the person responsible for shooting a man who stepped in to stop the mugging of a 16-year-old girl outside the Renaissance Center in Detroit.

Calvin Robinson was shot in the head Aug. 12 when he confronted a group who was robbing the girl on the southwest corner of Jefferson and Beaubien.

While he was chasing the group, someone opened fire on him. He is still recovering.

The Rib and Soul Festival was in progress at Hart Plaza at the same time and a group of eight black males, and one black female was recorded on surveillance video walking east on Jefferson crossing the entrance ramp for the Detroit Windsor Tunnel.

Three of the groups most noticeable members are:

  • A black male wearing a red shirt, dark pants and red shoes. He was carrying what appeared to be a long blue light saber or glow stick that blinks.
  • A black male wearing a white t-shirt, white hat and tan pants.
  • A black male with no shirt and blue jeans.

There are believed to be many witnesses of the robbery and the shooting.
