Dakota High School students to wear white at football game to honor victim

Dakota play Utica Eisenhower tonight in a Round 2 playoff game

Dakota High School students plan to wear white to honor a 14-year-old classmate killed in an accident Friday while she was walking to school. 

Victoria Cartwright was hit by a car driven by a fellow classmate on Heydenreich Road between 21 and 22 Mile roads.

The preliminary investigation shows that 2016 Jeep Wrangler, driven by a 16-year-old Macomb Township girl, was heading southbound and struck Cartwright, according to authorities. The driver had a 16-year-old passenger in the Jeep and they were on their way to Dakota High School.

Cartwright was taken to a hospital where she was pronounced dead.

Dakota High's football team (7-2) plays at undefeated Utica Eisenhower tonight at 7 p.m.
