STERLING HEIGHTS, Mich. - He pounded on the locked door of the KFC restaurant on Van Dyke Avenue in Sterling Heights saying his friend was just hit by a car.

When employees -- some kids working a summer job -- opened the door, he pulled out a knife

Andrew Hayden was arraigned by video this week, but it is the terrifying video of his alleged violent armed robbery that everyone is talking about.

Now charged with armed robbery and assault on a police officer, Hayden is seen inside the KFC on surveillance video wielding a knife at employees and stealing more than $100 out of the cash register.

Hayden left on a bicycle. Witnesses saw him peddle into the Sterling Estates trailer park. Police found the bicycle and Hayden inside one of the trailers along with the knife and orange hoodie that is clearly seen in the video.

Hayden allegedly kicked a police officer during his arrest, picking up an assaulting a police officer charge. He is being held on a $250,000 bond. He has prior convictions for failing to register as a sex offender and assault.
