Detroit crime spree includes carjacking, 2 shootings, chase, all before crash in New Center

2 people shot; police seek 2 suspects

DETROIT – The crash scene at the Goodyear on East Grand Boulevard at Woodward Avenue only shows the very end of a crime spree which included a carjacking and two shootings Monday night.

It all started about 11:30 p.m. Monday with a carjacking near Prevost Street and Santa Maria Avenue. Detroit police said the carjacking victim told officers he was shot in the back as his gray Dodge Charger was stolen.

About 20 minutes later at 11:50 p.m. on the other side of the city near I-75 and 7 Mile Road, three men in the same Dodge Charger rolled up next to someone and shot them. The men took off in the Charger.

Detroit police soon spotted the 2016 Charger and started to pursue it. That chase ended at the Goodyear Auto Service Center on East Grand Boulevard in New Center.

One of the three suspects has been arrested. Detroit police are looking for the other two suspects. It's not known if the suspects were injured in the crash. Police do not have detailed descriptions of them.

Victims both taken to hospital

One of the shooting victims was taken to Sinai-Grace Hospital while the other was taken to Detroit Receiving Hospital. Their conditions are not known at this time.
