Detroit Dog Rescue searching for people who left dog on side of road

DETROIT – Detroit Dog Rescue is attempting to identify who abandoned a dog on the side of the road Friday outside the rescue.

Surveillance video shows a vehicle pull up. Two people then get out and walk around before going back to the vehicle, pushing out the dog and driving away.

The dog, named "Mickey" by DDR, can be seen wandering around near Harper Avenue.

According to DDR, animal abandonment is a crime punishable by a $1,000 fine and 93 days in jail.

DDR said its surveillance company is working to get a license plate number from the video.
