2 men in critical condition after incident on city's east side

DETROIT - In a freak incident Saturday on Detroit's east side, a man was shot in a car that lost control and hit a bystander.

Police said two men in a BMW were going north on Gratiot Avenue when the car suddenly crossed over into the southbound lanes near Seneca and hit a 56-year-old man who was crossing the street. He was dragged for several feet until the car came to a stop in a field.

Police said one of the men got out of the car and fled.

The other inside suffered a gunshot wound and is in critical condition.

The man who was hit by the car is also in critical condition.
