Detroit police shut down suspected street racing party on Grand River Avenue

DETROIT – Detroit police shut down an unauthorized party which included street racing Sunday night.

The party is said to have taken place on Grand River Avenue between Livernois Avenue and Oakman Boulevard on the city's  west side.

Police tell us they were called to the area shortly after the street racing began as the incident was blocking traffic into downtown.

Upon arrival, officers determined it was necessary to call in the department's strike force team.

According to officers on scene, shortly after the strike force team arrived the crowd dispersed quickly.

Several cars were ticketed and towed.
