DETROIT - A 20-year-old woman who was captured on surveillance video hiding a handgun in her underwear before opening fire on a car at a Detroit gas station has been charged.
Prosecutor Kym Worthy on Wednesday said Shamicah Burton, of Detroit, is facing two counts of assault with intent to murder, carrying a concealed weapon, felony firearm and carrying with unlawful intent charges. A not-guilty plea was entered on her behalf at her arraignment. Bond was set at $500,000.
Video from the station's cameras allegedly show Burton and three other people on Sunday standing outside a Dodge Charger when a Pontiac Grand Prix pulls into the station. Words are exchanged, and Burton allegedly retrieves a handgun from the Charger's glove box, police said.
In the video, friends try to hold Burton back, but she rushes to the Grand Prix and starts shooting, hitting the driver several times, police said.
