According to MARL, a family from Howell was moved by media reports that Winston was cleared for adoption.

When the dog was found, he weighed 48 pounds and had frost bite. He now weighs about 63 pounds, according to MARL.

Dr. Lauren Davenport, a veterinarian at Advanced Animal Hospital in Sterling Heights, said it was “remarkable” how quickly Winston regained trust in people. The animal hospital assisted MARL during the dog’s seven-week recovery.

“We are excited that Winston’s forever home has been found,” MARL Executive Director Magee Humes said.
