Dog continues to save half her food, despite loss of companion

Filmmaker tells sweet story about dogs on Twitter

We’re not crying -- you’re crying!

Goodness this story is sweet and sad: Easton Dufur, a filmmaker, had two labs, Stitch and Cookie.

Here they are. Very cute.

“They were like Batman and Robin,” Dufur told Mashable.” They were always together. They always always got along and always were playing with each other and taking care of one another.”

Dufur posted about his dogs on his Twitter page last weekend, saying Stitch recently died, and this is Cookie’s first time alone.

Dufur only had one food bowl for his two Labradors. Ever since Cookie was young, Stitch taught her to only eat half the food in the bowl so that there was enough for both of them, Dufur wrote on Twitter.

“Since Stitch is gone, I’ve been feeding Cookie less food. Well, before I went to bed, I went to check to see if she ate. And so I did, and she still left half of her food there so Stitch can eat.”

Dufur told Mashable that Cookie is doing well, all things considered.

"We still are making sure that she is getting love and comfort that she needs right now, so she is doing well," Dufur said.

Quite frankly, Twitter couldn’t handle this story and neither can we.
