Police: Suspect driving stolen vehicle crashes in Detroit during chase then runs

LINCOLN PARK, Mich. – A Wyandotte resident reported their pickup truck had been stolen after leaving the car running to let it warm up Wednesday morning.

Police spotted the truck in Lincoln Park and a chase ensued.

On and off sidewalks and over a few lawns the suspect lead police to Pleasant Streets in southwest Detroit, near I-75 and Coolidge Highway.ng away from police.

The driver then crashed the car into a telephone pole, jumped out and started running.

Police were unable to catch the man.

Police say a handful of unattended cars have been stolen recently in Lincoln Park, Southgate and the Allen Park areas.

Drivers are reminded not to leave cars running to warm up on cold days.
