EASTPOINTE, Mich. – It happened in broad daylight.
A 13-year-old girl walking home from Kelly Middle School on Monday was abducted.
According to police, the teen was in front of the Papa Johns at 9 mile and Kelly roads just before 4 p.m. That's when a man grabbed her, covered her mouth and threw her into the backseat of his 4-door grey car. The suspect locked the doors so the girl could not escape.

According to the police report the suspect slowed down enough at Cushing and Stephens Streets for the 13-year-old to make her escape by unlocking the door and jumping out.
After running for several blocks, she ended up on the front lawn of Justin Vang and Elizabeth Thao.
"All we saw was a young girl running up to my husband and we ran out and we asked her what was wrong and she just kept crying. She was screaming," said Thao. "She was panicking. She was terrified."
The complete strangers immediately jumped in to action and helped.
--"I saw a tear in her eye," said Justin Vang
"I saw her hands shaking and I saw a tear in her eye," said Justin Vang. "I told my brothers and sisters to take her inside and I'll go call the cops."
Vang's family waited with the girl in their home and made her feel comfortable until police arrived.
Elizabeth Thao added, "The good thing is she was wearing her school badge so we were able to get her name and call her mom."
The girl is okay, but the man who abducted her is still on the run.
Police will be putting out extra patrols in the area of 9 Mile and Kelly after school hours to keep an eye out for the man wanted in this case.
