Event at Wayne State University focuses on community policing in Detroit

DETROIT – Violence and community policing in Detroit is the focus of a two-day symposium at Wayne State University Friday and Saturday.

The event is being put on by the Forum on Contemporary Issues in Society. A variety of speakers will be featured.

On Friday, US Attorney Barbara McQuade talked about what her office is doing to help the city.

McQuade gave a lecture on the efforts being done that not only zero in on enforcement, but also crime prevention. She also talked about grant funding and the money that is being brought to Detroit to address crime issues and help quell violence in the city.
