Family seeks answers 4 years after son shot over pair of glasses

Ellis Ross shot execution-style

DETROIT – Ellis Ross was shot execution-style over a pair of glasses, and four years later, his killer is still out there. His family hopes somebody can bring it justice.

The shooting happened during a birthday party. Ross' family got a phone call that his grandparents said they will never forget.

"They shot him eight times, just for his Cartier glasses," Ross' grandfather said. "It was traumatizing."

On the morning of May 27, the day before his 24th birthday, Ross was robbed and murdered -- shot eight times and robbed of his Cartier glasses. He had $800 in his pocket and a gun.

Ross was a lead manager at the Chrysler plant in Sterling Heights.

He spent $3,000 on the glasses and later added $2,000 worth of diamonds.

"He was getting ready to buy his own home," said Ross' father. "His life was cut short, and you just want closure to the whole ordeal."

The cash reward is now up to $2,500 for any information that helps police solve the cold case. Crime Stoppers is hoping anyone who might know any details will reach out.
