Family with special needs receives gift of new van

UAW Ford VP donates van to help Logan family

DETROIT – A local couple is doing all they can to get by while caring for their special needs children.

Their transportation is giving them a lot of trouble, but that's all about to change.

Patrice Logan and her husband Richard have three children from birth and four more from adoption.

Each of the four adopted children has special needs. The kids are adults now but they still need care.

"Everybody needs a home. All kids should have a home," said mom Patrice.

The Logan's entered a contest to win a new van to help transport the family. Local 4 did a story on the family and asked viewers to vote for them in the contest.

That's when UAW Ford Vice President James Settles Jr. heard the story on Local 4 and decided to give the family a for sure win.

"I said well, 'We can stop the voting and we can get the van,'" Settles said.

Tuesday afternoon the Logan family received their special gift.

"We can all go somewhere as a family now," said Richard Logan.
