WARREN, Mich. - Warren Police are interviewing a 50-year-old man on suspicion that he set a mobile home on fire. That fire spread to several other mobile homes, putting many families in danger.

It happened at Shadylane Mobile Home Estates, east of Dequindre and north of Nine Mile Road.

John Brooks and his 6-year-old son were asleep when the windows started breaking in their mobile home due to intense heat of the fire that started two units down from them.

"The windows busted and we got out. This could have hurt a lot of people," Brooks said.

Six units in all at the park were damaged. Two were destroyed.

The fire started around 3 this morning. The mobile home that first caught fire is the home where the 50-year-old suspect was recently living.

Shadylane management tells Local 4 that they had to evict the man recently.  He was standing near the fire, watching it burn when police took him away.

The fire then spread to a mobile home next door used for maintenance storage, and then spread to Brooks' mobile home.

The siding off of several other homes melted right off the structure.

"It could have spread. It could have," Says Sharon Lute. She manages the park.  No one was hurt.

Brooks and his son will be back later today to see if they can continue living in their home.

Arson investigators are on the scene and police say they may release the 50 year old man later today as they gather more evidence and before they go to the prosecutor to request charges.
