Fisher Building Arcade ceilings to be painted as they were 100 years ago

Ceilings will be repainted using stencils

DETROIT - The elaborate ceiling paintings at the Fisher Building Arcade will be recreated Tuesday as part of the ongoing restoration of the National Historic Landmark by Peter Cummings and Dietrich Knoer of The Platform.

The ceilings will be repainted in sections that had been lost using stencils, just as Albert Kahn's painters did nearly 100 years ago.

Officials said the beautiful ceilings have suffered from water damage and years of neglect.

EverGreene Architectural Arts has been on site at the Fisher Building for the past month to touch up paint and make repairs.
