DETROIT - A Florida woman has pleaded guilty to posting harassing messages on an animal rights website that were directed at a Wayne State University researcher and for trespassing on university property.
Camille Marino, the founder of "Negotiation Is Over" (NIO), was extradited to Michigan to face charges that she posted personal information about medical researcher Donald O'Leary on the group's website.
Marino contends that O'Leary experiments on dogs at the university to research cardiac conditions in people.
She was arrested on the campus in the spring of 2012 after chaining herself to door of the library in protest.
A statement on the groups website read, "NIO strives to be an instrument of defiance, disruption, disobedience, subversion, creative & aggressive grassroots action, and a catalyst for revolutionary change."
O'Leary later filed a personal protection order requesting Marino remove his home address and phone number from the website.
Marino is being held in the Wayne County Jail until her sentencing hearing in December.
