Forecast: Some sun, some rain on holiday weekend in metro Detroit

No record-breaking weather this weekend, for a change!

By Paul Gross - Meteorologist

DETROIT - Before getting into the forecast, just a quick note for those of you who missed our half-hour severe weather special last night: I've arranged to have the entire program put on (with the commercials edited out).

You can watch it right here. Please share this -- there's a lot of really good information in this show.

Alright, we didn't set a record low this morning but, if it matters to you, yesterday's high of 33 degrees set a record for the coldest April 15 high temperature (the old record, 35 degrees, was set way back in 1872), and the 2.6 inches of snow that fell after midnight broke the daily record of 2.5 inches set back in 1893!

Fortunately, I don't see any more record breaking weather in the foreseeable future, although you and I probably wouldn't mind a record high or two.

Partly cloudy skies overall tonight, as patches of high clouds move in and out. Lows in the low 30s.

Partly cloudy and a bit breezy Thursday afternoon. Highs in the upper 50s. South-southeast wind at 10 to 15 mph. Increasing clouds, with a possible shower late Thursday night. Lows in the low 40s.

Friday forecast:

Good Friday brings a good chance of rain showers, especially during the first half of the day. I think most activity will move out by mid-afternoon, and we'll end the day dry. Highs in the mid 50s. Gradual clearing Friday night, with lows in the mid 30s.

Weekend forecast:

Mostly sunny Saturday, with highs in the low 50s. Partly cloudy Saturday night, with lows in the mid to upper 30s.

Partly cloudy on Easter Sunday...and today's computer models suggest that any rain will hold off until Sunday night!

So let's plan on a dry Easter egg hunt and dry for your trip to and from services, and I'll update you if there are any changes (follow me on Twitter at @PaulGrossLocal4). Highs in the low to mid 60s.

A chance of rain early on Monday, but I think most of the day will end up dry. Highs in the upper 50s.

Mostly sunny on Tuesday, with highs near 60.

Partly cloudy on Wednesday, with highs near 60.
