Detroit police say cab driver found dead early Tuesday morning, shot inside his own cab near 6 Mile Road, Lodge Freeway

Detroit -

Detroit police are investigating the death of a cab driver who was found late Monday night in his Checker Cab near 6 Mile Road and the Lodge Freeway.

Police said the victim, identified as Reggie Jones, had his car parked next to an ATM.

The shooting happened about 11 p.m. Monday night. Jones' wallet was missing. The sliding plexiglass shield divider between the driver's seat and back seat was left open.

Jones' friends became concerned when he did not return home that night. They say he was an experienced driver who survived two previous shootings on the job.

Police have no suspects. They are reviewing surveillance video from the bank.
