Fundraiser to benefit residents affected by Pontiac senior apartment fire

PONTIAC, Mich. – A fundraiser Saturday will benefit the more than 40 people displaced July 1 after a fire at the West Manor apartment complex in Pontiac.

A fire ripped through the senior living apartments off Paddock Street in Pontiac. Firefighters were able to evacuate all residents, but the building suffered heavy structural damage.

The seniors are all safe with shelter, but will need continued assistance. The proceeds from the fundraiser will be used to provide food and medication to those affected by the fire.

"Give From the Heart Pontiac for Our Seniors!" is until 8 p.m. July 8 at the Bowen Senior Center at 52 Bagley Street in Pontiac.
