LANSING, Mich. - Michigan Gov. Rick Snyder has raised about $5.1 million in the last year toward his expected re-election campaign.

An adviser to the Republican governor's campaign said Monday that Snyder also will report spending $1.9 million in 2013. Snyder had $4 million in the bank at year's end.

Democratic gubernatorial candidate Mark Schauer is expected to report having $1 million cash on hand.

Detailed campaign-finance reports aren't due until Friday.

The race is ramping up this week. The Democratic Governors Association is expected to begin running TV ads. And Snyder's campaign has booked time on Super Bowl Sunday.

Snyder has not officially announced his re-election bid but already began airing ads in the fall.
