Greektown armored car robber walks away with $500,000

A man dressed as guard walked away from an armored car robbery in Greektown with more than $500,000 Friday morning.

Police say the armored van was parked near the Greektown Casino when a man dressed in guard's uniform approached the vehicle. An employee in the van opened it and the robber walked away with a half-million dollars.

The Loomis armored van was not making a pick-up or delivery at the casino.

Police are investigating. They say it does not appear the robber had a getaway vehicle near the height nor does it appear he used a weapon, making the crime that much more bizarre.

Police say the casino and its security team are assisting with the investigation.
