DETROIT - A groundbreaking ceremony is Thursday for a new development project that will create apartments out of two vacant Detroit buildings.

The buildings, which are off Cass Avenue and Davenport Street, are being re-done for 47 family units.

Great Lakes Capital Fund (GLCF) invested just under $9 million of the $16.7 million in total development costs to rehabilitate the historic buildings, which are currently vacant and badly in need of repairs.

The development team for the project includes: Cass Corridor Neighborhood Development Corporation and Ginosko Development Corporation as the project sponsor; Rohde Construction Company as the general contractor; Fusco, Shaffer & Pappas as the development architects; KMG Prestige will serve as property management company; and Robert Zinser Housing Development Consulting helped lead the team as a consultant.
