Group demands removal of Downtown Detroit statue

About 50 people gathered at statue of Christopher Columbus

DETROIT – Rallies against hate were held all over the country Saturday, including Metro Detroit.

About 50 people gathered at the statue of Christopher Columbus at Randolph Street and Jefferson Avenue in Downtown Detroit.

The group demanded the statue come down and denounced white supremacists.

The group also spoke out against businessman Dan Gilbert and Mayor Mike Duggan.
