Inkster considers eliminating the entire police department

Inkster may eliminate entire police department, be serviced by Wayne County Sheriff's Department

INKSTER, Mich. - A special meeting is being held in Inkster Friday night and members are expected to discuss a proposal to eliminate the city's police force.

Sources told Local 4 the city is considering eliminating the entire police force and contracting with the Wayne County Sheriff's Department to take over patrols.

Local 4 has learned the discussion at the meeting is expected to be heated because some said there is a conflict of interest on the part of the mayor and deputy police chief who both apparently have ties to the sheriff's department.

Local 4 will have more on this developing story after the meeting is complete.
