DETROIT – It is one of metro Detroit's most bizarre murder investigations.
The murder of Grosse Pointe Park mother Jane Bashara last January put the spotlight on her husband, his secret life and his handyman.
Now, a year later, the Defenders are looking back and revealing a new twist in the still ongoing investigation.

They appeared to live the perfect life. Jane and Bob Bashara lived in a beautiful Grosse Pointe Park home. They had two successful children and a loving extended family.
But it would soon change.
Jane was heading home from her work in Detroit, but never made it.

Jane's body is discovered the day after her husband had called police to say she'd gone missing. Her body was in her Mercedes SUV that was found on Detroit's east side. It's meant to look like a carjacking gone wrong. But something isn't right.
Later that night, Bob declined to comment to Local 4, saying he was too devastated to talk.
Days later, Grosse Pointe Park police name Bob as a person of interest in his wife's death.
Handyman says he was told to do it
A man by the name of Joe Gentz enters the investigation when he confesses that he killed Jane under the order of her husband.
In March, he was put behind bars and charged with murder.

The investigation into Bob grew deeper and a secret life was uncovered. It came to light that Bob was involved in a fetish community and went by "Master Bob."
Local 4 Defender Hank Winchester received several emails from some of Bob's former slaves.
Bob's other woman
Rachel Gillette was a mistress of Bob's. They had planned to begin a new life in a new home with another woman. But as the investigation moved forward, Rachel distanced herself from Bob. She got a personal protection order and said she feared for her life.
"Through the course of that relationship, I, unfortunately, began to care very much for him and fell in love," she told Local 4 in an interview. "In retrospect, I realize he lied to me and manipulated me."
A hit man plot
In June, police said Bob worked to hire a hit man to kill Gentz in jail.
Bob pleaded guilty to solicitation of murder in October.
The 54-year-old said he "foolishly and regrettably" had offered to pay a man to find someone to kill Gentz.

Bashara was sentenced in December to a minimum of 80 months in prison and a maximum of 20 years.
He is jailed in Manistee.

Bob will likely face new charges
Investigators have not stopped working the case.
The Defenders have learned that charges may be brought against Bob in connection with his wife's death.

"We have spent the last year grieving as privately as possible, and we appreciate the respect that has been shown to us. We miss Jane. We look forward to a satisfactory conclusion to the investigation into her murder."
