LIVE - Key hearing continues for 3 charged in Deontae Mitchell's death

Deontae Mitchell's body found in June in field on city's east side

DETROIT – Testimony resumes Tuesday in a key hearing for three people who are accused of kidnapping and killing a 13-year-old Detroit boy and dumping his body in a field. 

Deontae Mitchell went missing June 1 while he was out riding his bike with his cousin. 

Surveillance video from a store on East Warren showed him being forced into a car at gunpoint. An Amber Alert was issued for Mitchell, but his body was found the next day near Harper Avenue and Baldwin Street. An autopsy revealed he had been beaten.

Police said Gregory Walker, 45, was identified as the man in the surveillance video who kidnapped Mitchell. Lillian Roberts, 43, and Ernest Coleman were accomplices, police said. 

All three are facing murder, unlawful imprisonment, kidnapping, torture and weapons charges.
