The new Chrysler 200 midsize sedan, which had its debut at the Detroit Auto Show, is getting a lot of buzz among industry analysts. 

The second generation 200 boasts significant power train refinement, and a new 9-speed automatic transmission that delivers about a 13 percent improvement in fuel economy. It promises an estimated highway fuel economy of 35 mpg. 

The 2015 Chrysler 200 also offers all-wheel drive and features 60 safety features—the most available in the segment. 

"Everything's better," said Kathy Graham, a spokeswoman for Chrysler.  "It's equipped with state-of-the-art technology and available in distinct trim levels."

The new higher-end 200 S-model has exclusive gloss black trim and accents, dual exhaust, black wheels and sportier handling. 

The design of the 2015 Chrysler 200 also emphasizes Chrysler's slogan: Made in Detroit. There's an imprint of the Motor City's skyline in the floor mats.

Chrysler just infused more than $1 million in the Detroit-area plant where the new 200 will be made. The state-of-the-art production facility now has a 400,000-vehicle capacity. It also features an energy consumption reduction of 62 percent.

"We're expecting big numbers," says Sergio Marchionne, the CEO of Chrysler and Fiat. "It's in a brand new, fully robotic plant and it's a great car."

The 2015 Chrysler 200 has a starting price of $22,000, and will be available in the spring of 2014 in four different models, the LX, Limited, S and C models.
