TROY, Mich. – One person was killed and two were injured after a crash involving five vehicles Tuesday afternoon in Troy.
The crash occurred on John R Road near Orpington Drive, north of Big Beaver Road.
Troy police said a car traveling southbound on John R Road swerved into northbound lanes about 4:15 p.m. and collided with another car going northbound.
The first vehicle, a silver 2004 Jeep Grand Cherokee, collided with the second and rolled over. The second vehicle, a gray 2004 Grand Jeep Cherokee, was hit by another car and was unable to stop in time and was rear ended by another car who was also unable to stop on time.
The 27-year-old Warren woman, who was a passenger in the first vehicle, was killed in the crash. She was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash.
The driver of the car, a 28-year-old woman from Eastpointe, was treated for suspected serious injuries. She was treated by Alliance Mobile Health and transported to Beaumont Hospital in Troy.
The driver of the second vehicle also was treated for suspected serious injuries by Alliance Mobile Health and transported to Beaumont Hospital in Royal Oak.
John R Road was closed for about four hours for the investigation.
Other drivers involved in the crash were not injured. Police are still investigating but don’t believe alcohol or drugs to be factors as of now.
