DETROIT – A Detroit man is facing multiple charges after allegedly violently assaulting his girlfriend on a bus and in a restaurant.
Orlando Jermaine Thomas Jr., 30, was charged with assault to do great bodily harm, felonious assault, domestic violence and two counts of malicious destruction of property.

Thomas is accused of throwing tables and chairs at his 26-year-old girlfriend from Detroit, as well as hitting and kicking her, at a Potbelly restaurant in the 870 block of Woodward in Detroit on June 7.
The Wayne County Prosecutor’s Office said police responded to the restaurant for the reported assault. When they arrived, people were flagging down the officers and pointing out Thomas walking down Congress near Griswold. He allegedly ran from police but was eventually taken into custody at Griswold near North Larned.
The 26-year-old Detroit woman was taken to a local hospital for her injuries.
Thomas is also accused of spitting and pushing his girlfriend on a DDOT bus, and pushing her into the windshield of the bus until the window cracked before the alleged assault at the Potbelly restaurant.
Thomas was arraigned on June 9 and was given a $100,000 cash/surety bond with a GPS tether and house arrest. He is scheduled to return to court on June 11 for a bond redetermination hearing.
