Detroit Police rounded up about 200 teenagers during the fireworks Monday night for violating the city curfew.

Last week, city leaders announced the curfew would be extended from 6pm to 6am for the fireworks, a fact, some of the teenagers said they were unaware of.

Cathy Chatman arrived at the 4th precinct after being called by police. "I'm down here trying to get my son out. He's a good kid, you know," said Chatman. "He's a 3.0 to 3.5 student at Cody High School, I'm just trying to find out why he was put in handcuffs."

Last week, Mayor Dave Bing announced a citywide curfew would be in effect for all minors age 17 and under. The rule said minors must be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian (with identification). Minors will be allowed to travel to and from work or organized sports. The curfew is in effect from 6 p.m. on June 24 until 6 a.m. on June 25.
