4-month-old child dies in home on Detroit's west side

Autopsy needed to determine what caused the infant's death

DETROIT – Police are investigating the death of a 4-month-old child on Detroit's west side Saturday.

Officers arrived at the home on La Salle Blvd. after receiving information that an infant had died.

Police are not revealing much about the circumstances surrounding this case, but the Wayne County Medical Examiner's office tells Local 4 that an autopsy is needed to determine what caused the child's death.

When investigators first arrived, the infant's grandmother refused to let detectives into the home without a warrant.  A short time later, police returned with a search warrant in hand, and began removing items from the home.
